Digital Photography and Imaging 10.4.2023 - 6.5.2023 Johnny Lam Wee Zhe (0363436) Bachelor of Design in Creative Media LECTURES On the tenth week of Digital Photography and Imaging, we are introduced to the basics of Adobe Aftereffects. Adobe Aftereffects is an 2.5D animation program used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing. This program also allows you to edit imagery which you are able to combine layers of imagery and video into the same scene. Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector graphics and rasterized art on order to tell a story. Physical based media can be included in the form of images and video. When compositing video, it is important to rename layers according to the content of said layers as this will help your to pick the right layers that you want to edit. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY 3.4.2023 - 3.4.2023 Johnny Lam Wee Zhe (0363436) Digital Photography and Imaging LECTURE Just like the previous week, week 5 is also interrupted by another public holiday. Therefore, week 5 lecture is pushed back to week 6 similar to week 4 lecture. For this particular lecture, we learn about the basics of photography. As most of the students does not own a DSLR, Mr. Fauzi glazes over certain topic regarding the DSLR and cover topics that has general application. We have learnt about exposure setting. Exposure is the the amount of light that reaches the camera sensor. There are two setting that affect the actual exposure luminosity of an image; IRIS and Shutter Speed. The third setting also affect the brightness of the photo; ISO. IRIS/Aperture - Parts of the camera that controls the amount of light that gets in the lenses. Digital Photography and Imaging 24.4.2023 Johnny Lam Wee Zhe (0363436) Bachelor of Design in Creative Media LECTURE During week 4, there is no class at the time due to a public holiday so the lecture for that week gets push back and we learn this on week 6. Here, we get to learn additional features of Photoshop. We learn to use adjustment layers and filters. Adjustment Layers - Adjustment layers are a non destructive photo editing tool, the layer can be deleted to revert the photo back it's original appearance. Fig 1. Parts of the Adjustment Layer Property panels show a specific type of adjustment you want to select such as exposure, brightness, selective color and etc.   Brightness and Contrast - Brightness adjust the highlight of the photo and contrast adjust the shadow. Digital Photography and Imaging 17.4.2023 Johnny Lam Wee Zhe (0363436) Bachelor of Design in Creative Media LECTURE On the third week of the lecture, we are introduced the features of Photoshop and learn of the basics of Photoshop. We get to learn selection, layering, tool box and marquee selection tool (use to select and masking). We also learn the lasso tool, a tool used to draw or select specific parts of a photo. There are three types of lasso tools: - Lasso - Polygonal Lasso - Magnetic Lasso   In addition, we also get to learn how to use the pen tool. Digital Photography and Imaging 10.4.2023 Johnny Lam Wee Zhe (0363436) Bachelor of Design in Creative Media LECTURES For our second lecture of the semester, we are introduced to the basic of composition.   Focal Point - An important element of a design that drawn audience's attention. Scale & Hierarchy - Drawing attention away from other elements. Balance the Elements - Get into a mindset where the element have weights (bigger element have bigger weight) to help with asymmetrical design. White Space - Empty space that makes a design less cluttered. We also get to learn about the rule of thirds. The rules of third is split into thirds using two vertical and two horizontal lines with four intersection and nine parts. The most important part of the image is to align into the intersection points. Any horizontal element should be align along with either the top horizontal lines or the bottom of the horizontal line.   ...
