PROJECT 3 - AUDIO STORYTELLING
For this project, we are being tasked with creating an audio book of a popular
fairy tale of any choice a provide narration, voice acting and background
sounds and music. It is recommended that the source of the fairy tale should
also have visuals that can be compiled into a video form.
After several searches, I found a website that tells children's fairy tale and
some of the fairy tale provides multiple illustration of what's going on in
the story. For this project, I decide to choose this older version of
Cinderella.

As the dialogues are spoken by women (which I am not), I decide to have a
voice actress to help pull off the dialogue portion of the story while I
myself will be narrating the story. I will be recording parts of the story
from the beginning until the part where Cinderella runs away from the
ball.
Originally I have planned on this with the version of Cinderella that I have
in mind but while recording, I realize I have skim passed a few section of
the story, especially when Cinderella not only returns home in time without
event but she returns for another ball which is when she failed to leave in
time. So I shortened it to reduce the length of the video.
In order to ensure a higher quality recording, I used a thick blanket to
absorb the surrounding sounds and prevent the voice from bouncing off the
walls of the room. For the dialogue part of the story, I have the help of my
sister since the dialogue is all spoken by women.
After that, I plan out the additional sound needed for the video. Here is
the spread sheet:
I download the each of the sounds needed from different copyright free
sources. For the typical sounds, I got it from this website just like my
other work:
For other sources of sound that I'm unable to find in the previous website,
I use this website. I also download copyright free music from here:
In the end, here is all the raw audio and recording I've downloaded from the
website:
I have clean out the recording with the denoise effect. From there, I
combine all the audios together, starting with the recording and then, the
other sound effects.

Once I'm done with the compilation, I check the amplitude of the audio to
ensure that the sound combination does extent too much using the mixer.

After several adjustments made from the audio, I then proceed to compile all
the graphic available from the website and an extra image I gathered all of
them into one video. Here is the website that I have gathered the graphics
from as well as the the very site where this story is told:

REFLECTION
My initial plan for this project is to voice everyone in the story as well as read the narratives. However, I decide to ask the help from my sister as part of my project and she did a pretty decent job at it. Just as I suspected, it takes multiple takes to do the voice. This had only made worse by my sleep deprivation induced by something outside of my control. Nonetheless, this project has help me in a few ways such as narration and asking for assistance. It also helps me to think outside of the box and not just insert sound that is shown in the picture.
