LECTURE

During week 9 lecture, we get to learn about digital surrealism, what is it and how to start creating surreal artwork to get ourselves ready for the next project.

Realism: Realism takes subjects matters that are mundane and ordinary. The artworks portrays the subject as it is.

Surrealism: Surrealism focuses on dream-like imagery and often distorts the ordinary subjects. Surrealism is also a movement where an artist create art to express their idea of what the artist themselves are like.

 Feature of a Surrealistic Artwork
- Dream-like scenes and symbolic images
- Unexpected, illogical, juxtaposition
- Bizarre assemblages of ordinary objects
- Primitive and childlike design

How to get started on creating a surreal artwork?
1) Capture Your Dreams: Sketch out your vision for surrealism. Draw it roughly and don't need add in details.
2) Find Reference Image: Gather images of what your have in mind.
 
What are the mindset to keep in mind when creating a surreal artwork?
1) Does this look real?: Surrealism focuses on something that could be real but it isn't if the subject matter created is obviously non existent. 
2) Make it happen to the best of your ability: Don't be afraid of the challenge and face it head on which would help you gain skills in the long run.
